NDL Awarded 1st Place in the Engineering Group 1 at 2012 Taiwan Tech Trek

"Taiwan Tech Trek" (TTT) is a program organized by the National Science Council to give second-generation Taiwanese youths around the world the chance to experience Taiwan for themselves. The 2012 summer internship saw around 300 2nd-generation Taiwanese youths from 18 countries return to Taiwan for study and service. The 4 TTT interns supervised by the National Nano Device Laboratories (NDL) all achieved good results at the results conference. Aaron Hsu in particular was recognized with 1st place in Engineering Group 1.
The TTT program is aimed at providing outstanding youths of Taiwanese descent living overseas with an avenue for learning more about Taiwan. Apart from providing these overseas youths with summer internship opportunities where they can join various local industries so they can see the conditions and progress in Taiwan, it also serves as a way to build up loyalty to Taiwan among overseas Taiwanese youths. The NDL has supported the TTT program since it was first launched in 2005 and supervised around 30 overseas Taiwanese youths to date. This year (2012), Aaron Hsu was mentored by NDL research fellow Dr. Yang Jung-yen and his exceptional learning performance at the final results conference resulted in 1st place in Engineering Group 1. At the award presentation and farewell dinner held on August 18, Hsu and his research supervisor received the award together to share the honors with the NDL colleagues involved.
